What do you know about South Africa? Maybe you’ve heard a little bit about it in your history class, but did that really plant an idea in your brain? Hear from South African teens the truth about life in their country. Their unique food, the varied rhythms of their music, their painful yet inspiring history—these are all important parts of understanding life in South Africa.

What makes South Africa so fascinating today? You can’t begin to answer that question without checking out this handy timeline of the country’s past.

Women Making Noise

These female musicians are beyond inspirational! From being exiled for testifying against the formerly racist government to being the only woman in the country to play the thumb piano professionally, they prove there are tons of ways a woman can rock!
