Teen Voices is an intensive, broad-based journalism mentoring and leadership development program for teen girls that creates a print and online magazine giving voice to social justice issues shared among a community of teens and adults. In response to our program, fellow practitioners, allied organizations and funders have approached us with the suggestion that we make our work replicable-so more teen girls across America can benefit from the work we are doing locally.
In 2006, Teen Voices received a two-year grant through the Calderwood Writing Initiative of The Boston Athenaeum, to support PENS of POWER, an initiative that allows us to answer the needs of youth development professionals for writing resources and interactive activities that educate, inspire, and create change.
With the help of our on-staff Program Director and a writing consultant, we are creating resources called "Guidance for Grown-ups" that can be used by youth development professionals everywhere without cost. These programs have been developed based on real world experiences through teen workshops in the Boston area.
To continue to provide this service, we ask for feedback and support. Please take this opportunity to let us know what you think and join our email list. We welcome your suggestions and ideas.
